The arrival hall of Zvartnots International Airport of Yerevan was crowded again last night, as people greeted the freestyle wrestling national team of Armenia.
Now two-time European champion Arsen Harutyunyan, silver medalist Arman Andreasyan, bronze medalist Manvel Khndzrtsyan, the coaches of the Armenian national team and other wrestlers who participated in the European Championship have returned home.
The fans greeted Arsen Harutyunyan with applause.
"Now I will rest for a few days and start preparing for the world championship. I was very happy that the [national] anthem of Armenia would be played, the [national] flag would be raised, and the whole nation would see [it]. I was standing on the platform of honor with great enthusiasm, especially since I had defeated the Turkish wrestler in the final. I dedicate my victory to the Armenian soldiers standing on the border," Harutyunyan said in particular.
Armenia won 1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal at the 2022 European Freestyle Wrestling Championship in Budapest, Hungary, from Monday to Wednesday, and placed fourth in the national team competition.
