Armenian Minister of Emergency Situations Andranik Piloyan dismissed from his post

The decree on his dismissal was signed by the president on Friday on the basis of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's proposal.

Piloyan is charged with corruption. The previous day the Yerevan court upheld the prosecutor's motion to arrest Piloyan. He is a suspect in a large-scale criminal case, along with a group of officials from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. All of them are accused of extortion, taking bribes on a large and especially large scale, as well as embezzlement, issuing and receiving illegal rewards.

Besides Piloyan, eight more people are accused in this criminal case.

Piloyan had been the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations since 7 July, 2020. After the 44-day war, he was awarded the highest title, "National Hero."
