Ronald Acuña return date set: Are Braves rushing him back?

Atlanta Braves fans are chomping at the bit to see Ronald Acuña Jr. back in the mix, as the scenes of him tearing his ACL last campaign is something people are still trying to forget. Despite that devastating injury, the slugger is inching closer to his return.

It’s now looking like Acuña could be back by May 6, as that’s the target date for the club to see the standout back in the lineup. With that date less than two weeks away, some supporters are a bit concerned it may be a bit early for him.

Ronald Acuña Jr.’s return is almost here for the Atlanta Braves

On one side of things, plenty of people can’t wait to see Acuña back in action, as Atlanta has struggled early on this season. The club is 7-9 through the first 16 games of the campaign, which no one saw coming. Acuña’s electric ways will be a welcome return for the club.

At the same time, the last thing anyone wants to see is Acuña re-injure himself early on now that he’s looking like his old self. The videos of Acuña dominating in batting practice have gone viral and for good reason. He’s got plenty of pop in his bat and the clips of him smashing dingers has been exciting to see.

Acuña himself has said he feels great and he’s ready to rock with his teammates. The medical team will be monitoring him closely leading up to May 6, but all signs are pointing to Acuña putting on a show sooner than later. Skipper Brian Snitker and Co. will only hope this decision doesn’t come back to haunt them.
