FanSided MMA has confirmed with sources that No. 7 ranked Mateusz Gamrot will step in to replace the injured Dan Hooker to face No. 10 ranked Jalin Turner on the main card of UFC 285.
News broke on Feb. 8 that Hooker had broken his hand and would not be able to meet Turner on March 4 but that the UFC would scramble to fight him a replacement.
Some had proposed Drew Dober, who also seemed keen on the idea but, but wasn’t able to make the date in question. In the end, it was Gamrot who answered the call.
UFC 285 is set to be the UFC’s biggest card of the year due to Jon Jones returning to the Octagon after a long layoff in order to compete for the first time in the promotions heavyweight division. His fight, versus Ciryl Gane, will be for the title.
Turner is one of the UFC’s biggest prospects at 155 pounds and is currently riding a five-fight win streak, all finishes before the third round.
Gamrot is coming off a loss to Beneil Dariush and looking to get back in the win column with a statement against Turner.
