Best Anytime Touchdown Picks For Week 16

Jerick McKinnon – Kansas City Chiefs vs. Seattle Seahawks

I went back and forth this week about which Kansas City Chiefs running back I want to back, but ultimately I’m siding with Jerick McKinnon, who has five scores in the team’s last three games.

McKinnon is an important receiving threat out of the backfield for K.C. (four receiving scores over the last three games) and he has a favorable matchup on the ground here, as Seattle has given 19 rushing touchdowns in the 2022 season.

McKinnon has double-digit touches in three straight games, going from 10 to 13 to 18 in his last contest. I’ll ride the hot hand to find the end zone in Week 16. – Peter Dewey

Sam Darnold – Carolina Panthers vs. Detroit Lions

I’m already on the Panthers to pull off the upset as a 3-point dog at home, so what’s the harm in backing Darnold as my best anytime touchdown bet in a favorable matchup with odds close to 5/1?

The Lions allow the most rushing yds to quarterbacks by a wide margin (539 to Miami Dolphins’ 506 and Philadelphia Eagles’ 368). They’ve also allowed the second-most rushing touchdowns to QBs (6) other than Chicago Bears (8).

Weather in Charlotte today calls for temperatures in the high teens with 10-12 mph winds. It’s by no means the worst weather forecast around the country, but it’s still sets up as a very run-heavy game for Carolina if they’re not playing from behind for the bulk of the action.

Isaiah Hodgins – New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings

Hodgins has been on the field more and more, seeing at least 80% of snaps for the Giants over the last three weeks. He has hauled in at least four catches in his last three and scored a touchdown in the previous two games before last week.

The Giants are facing a bottom half of the league secondary in the Vikings, who are 22nd in Dropback/EPA. I expect the Giants passing game to find success and I’ll back Hodgins to keep up his fine play with a touchdown. – Reed Wallach

Taysom Hill – New Orleans Saints at Cleveland Browns

Dennis Allen has not been a good head coach for much of 2022, but he’d have to be an outright idiot to not play Taysom Hill over Andy Dalton for the majority of this game.

Nobody will be able to throw the ball in this weather, so Hill is a much better fit over Dalton. The wind chill in Cleveland will be -11 and they’re forecasting 40 mph winds. Honestly, Allen should have brought in Army’s offensive coordinator this week and installed the triple option.

The Browns are terrible at stopping the run and this game is going to be won on the ground. Hill is the Saints not-so-secret weapon. – Josh Yourish
